Circleville, NY
The small hamlet of Circleville is part of Orange County, NY, located within the town of Wallkill. Circleville sits three miles northeast of Middletown, along Route 302 at the intersection with the old Goshen Turnpike.
The town of Wallkill covers more than 62 square miles of land with a population of roughly 28,000 people. Circleville makes up the southwest portion of this area, where the local Presbyterian church was first organized in 1842. The name Circleville was then given to the church and village by Mrs. Mary Bull of the landowning family, who thought the Ohio town of Circleville was a very pleasant name. The hamlet has had its own post office since 1850, and Circleville today lends its name to both a nearby school and the local fire district.
